Proud to be a
Borderpaws is a private, independent Dog training facility based in the Duns area of the Scottish Borders. We are a Kennel Club Listed Status Club for Agility.
We started out as a small group of Agility friends who met once a week to work our dogs. As word got out, more people joined in the training and inevitably we were approached by people who wanted to learn about the sport from scratch.
With the increasingly high standards of competitive Agility these days it's almost impossible to make headway in Agility without previous dog training of some description. We rapidly identified the need to offer a structured training progression path that gave a young pup strong foundations right from the start and could lead them through to early Agility training and beyond - to wherever their dreams took them.
If you check the menu on the left you will see that Borderpaws has two distinct training 'departments', one offering stepped foundation classes and the other, actual Agility training.
Our Eight Week Courses are an integrated series of progressive training classes to take your dog through from Puppyhood through to pre-Agility. These courses are ideally taken consecutively as each unit builds on the previous one, but each course can also be taken individually.
The set of courses are great as a launch pad not only for Agility but as a basis for further training in a whole range of dog sports - or for simply having a happy, sociable and confident canine companion.
These courses are run in Longformacus Village Hall on Thursday evenings.
Our Agility Training offers group training for every ability of handler and dog from absolute beginner through to Championship level.
These training groups run in Ladykirk Equestrian Centre on Wednesday evenings.
In all Borderpaws classes the emphasis is on a relaxed atmosphere and high quality training. Handlers and their dogs benefit from the experience, ideas and proven techniques from the forefront of both modern dog training and the agility show world, plus the informality of limited sized groups with focused, positive, individual attention.
We use only positive, reward-based training methods.
